The Clocksmiths Introduction Message

This is to inform you that there is a small private E-mailing list.
This list is called Clocksmiths.

The requirements for membership are that you MUST be or have been directly involved in the clock trade either through consultation, education, repairs, sales, or as a supplier.
To make it easier for those who think that a private E-mailing list goes against everything the Internet stands for, think of Clocksmiths as a club. And this club has membership requirements and a code of ethics to follow just as many other clubs have.
Clocksmiths will concern itself all about clocks, appraising clocks, all aspects of the repair business, collecting clocks, dating clocks, materials and services searches, preserving clocks, restoring clocks, selling clocks, tools of the clock trade, etc. A more detailed description is on the cpurpose.html page.
Watch talk is restricted to its' repair aspect only. Endless babble is not allowed, very little theory is discussed, and the listowner would like to keep the group as "focused" as possible. All of this will be an on going determination by the listowner and violators will be removed from the list. Of course there are exceptions to everything but you get the idea.
This list is open to all types of clock discussions with the listowner having the final say of how long something "drags" on but I don't expect that to be a major problem.
Additionally, the list is geared to any discussions of a clock horological nature where one of our members may not feel comfortable asking a much larger list for help and may just want to "feel" something out in a more intimate surrounding.
The key to this list is that absolutely no question, within the parameters of the rules, is a stupid question.
Ignorance is our worse enemy and collaboration is our only defense.
The listowner and the membership thank you. Copyright 1999-2003 Ern Grover.
